Style Issue: Bohemian

The term Bohemian originated from Western Europe, it was associated with gypsies who lived a nomadic and an untied life. They move around a lot, and are known to be free spirited! The one thing that quickly comes to my mind is the Malayalam movie ‘Charlie’.  I love that movie, it represents Bohemian free life! I could totally watch that movie over and over, well for one because of Dulquer Salman and two, for the concept of a free life.

I have a friend whose room was decorated Boho, it was all super colorful -  string lights, plants on vine, bed on the floor with overhanging lights and net, floor pillows, guitar, tapestries, dream catchers. And no, she did not live out of a van, but had a 9 to 5 job and very much lived in an apartment. But, I wish she lived in a van. Could have been appropriate. I have a respect for this style because it is not associated with an era like Victorian, midcentury or modern. It has been over time and through, people live those lives. It is a lifestyle.

There is also ‘haute bohemian’ or ‘couture bohemian’ referred to upper class bohemian people. I have not researched well on it so that is a topic for another day but everything can be couture these days y’all.

While I can design Boho rooms by throwing in some wicker baskets, straw hats, jute rugs, I think it is more than that. I am going to take my time design illustrating it, meanwhile here is a few that I gathered representing Boho.
