How do you furnish when designer products are expensive
Okay, I have heard and have felt this!
Find alternatives
I agree that exceptional style comes with an expensive price tag to a certain degree, but not entirely. My design illustrations has products from Rove Concepts, House of Leon, Afloral but really I only give you an idea of the items that go together well. There are lots of designer dupes and affordable pieces that can help achieve the look you want, it just requires some time to find the one that you love. The easiest way to find look alike or similar items is to upload the object that you like into Google image and hit search. You will get knock offs in a fraction of the original designer price.
Learn to DIY?
DIY projects have increased many many folds post 2020 lockdown. People had so much time in their hands they found new hobbies, worked on DIYing their yard, garage, home, art. There are plenty of tutorials available online, downloadable plans for a small fee for you to create or revamp something around the home. Start with smaller projects, I am sure you will run to a hardware store countless times like I did but it will improve your confidence. Every project counts.
Know the items you want to spend and save on
Couch, beds, office chairs, counter stools, arm chairs are something that you should never compromise quality on. You know why? If you do not buy quality furniture you will end up giving it to the doctor instead. Heavy traffic furniture should be spent on, no compromise people. Determine what will be used more and make a list. Don’t be stuck with a low quality item that YOU paid for but don’t deserve.
You can save on dresser, drawer, side table, console table, coffee table, dining table, foot stools, ottomans. Well, you can attempt to make things yourself on the save list too, if you gain some skill and experience DIYing
Seasonal Sales
Buying items offseason is hitting the jackpot. Get Christmas decorations in Feb or March, and spring items in fall. Subscribe to email alerts from your favorite store to get that deal you have been waiting for. Pick it up from the store, if possible to avoid shipping charges.
If you are just getting into décor, learn to wait before you stack up on your items. Know the trend, give it a season or a year to see how a trend gets knocked off. Invest on items that are only timeless.
